Samba Boyz wins as Sakata Ball tourney moves to Coast

Samba Boyz squeezed a narrow 1-0 win over Lake Warriors as the Safaricom-sponsored Coast Province Sakata Ball Tournament kicked off yesterday in North Coast and South Coast.

Representing North Coast, Samba Boyz scored the lone goal of the match through Hussein Abdulmalik seven minutes to time at Freretown playground.

Despite the morning rain and a slippery playing surface, Samba Boyz proved the better side with superb ball control and dribbling skills.

The North Coast event attracted 12 teams, including Freretown, Barsheba, Nyali Strikers, St Peter Nyali, Lake Warriros, Shanzu, Ziga, Maweni and Annex. Others were Dundee, Samba and Bolton.

South coast

In South Coast at Ukunda Showground, Msambweni Secondary School beat Vigambo 1-0, while Likoni Rangers bundled out Kingstone after handing them a 1-0 beating at Simba ground.

Teams in action were Kiboko, Krack United, G. Hard, Likoni Heroes, Diani Stars, Simba, Redeemed High School and Network FC. Others were Bohgwe United, G. FC, Soan Van ASCH Secondary School, Vigambo, Kingstone, Msambweni Secondary, Likoni Rangers and Magutu Strikers.

Action in Mombasa

Action moves to Mombasa Island and Voi today as teams look to progress to the next stage of the tournament.

Teams in Mombasa Island will play at Tononoka and Ziwani grounds.

They are Makanda, Ziwani, Tudor Youth Foundation, Gulshan Youth, Coast United, Black Dragon, Mombasa United, Mombasa Sports Club and Young Warriors.

Other teams also in action are Sparki Youth, West Ham United, Black Warriors, Green Bombers, Espirito United, Allidina Sea Eagles and Mazagazaga.

Teams in Voi will take to the field at Voi Municipal Stadium and Coast Institute of Technology.

They are Mwangea Secondary School, Green Stars, Rising Stars, Barca, JKUAT Campus, Kingstone, Sorbibor, Rinda, Mwaghogho Secondary and Taveta Youth.

Also in the same group in the tournament are Teita Sisal Estate, Taveta Shooting Stars, Gaffer, Liverpool, Vosalo and Aston Villa. The event continues today.
