Paparazzi assaulted at the Terminal party

Police are investigating the circumstances that led to a murky incident involving the assault of a journalist during the ‘Terminal party’ held at Alfajiri last Saturday night. A journalist with the Pulse magazine, was beaten up by a man only identified as Ndichu.

The photojournalist was taking photos of an ugly physical exchange between Ndichu and DJ Yush when he was attacked. He was injured and his camera lens destroyed during the scuffle which partially involved upcoming singer Habida, Emukule Ekirapa of MTV and a female TV presenter. The midnight incident almost brought the party — which police on night patrol had instructed stopped — to stand still. What shocked revelers was that even after the injured journalist pulled away, refraining to react to the assault and seeking consolation from fellow scribes, the seemingly drunk man followed him, landing several blows on his face even as Emukule, Habida and this journalist on duty came to his rescue. He left the venue shortly after the assault. Emukule and Habida also left immediately and declined to respond to journalists about their association with the aggressor. "I was just coming to rescue your friend," Emukule said. After receiving treatment on Monday, the journalist has since reported the matter to the Kilimani Police station and the matter filed under OB 77/8/09/09.

By the time we went to press, the organisers of the event, Watu House, were at loss and could not explain the lack of security at the event. "I know the guy. He was part of the organisers," admitted the TV girl in question, declining to comment when asked if he was her boyfriend.

"I left two of our guys in charge when I left at midnight. I am still trying to find out where they were at the time," said a Watu House PR representative who sought enormity.
