Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has gone five games without scoring for the first time in his Arsenal career following the Gunners' loss to Leicester.

The striker notched on the opening day of the season at Fulham but has drawn blanks since then.

Aubameyang's last five game drought came in 2014 when he was playing for Borussia Dortmund.

His form in front of goal will be of mounting concern, especially since the Gabonese star signed a lucrative new deal in the summer.

Much was made of the striker's potential exit and Arsenal were warned about letting their star man seek pastures new.

Last term Aubameyang scored 29 goals in all competitions to follow up the 33 he notched the season before that.

His appetite for the big occasion also underline his importance to Arsenal as he scored both goals in their FA Cup semi-final win and then again in their final success over Chelsea.

But the 31-year-old has faced criticism from those who have claimed there is a lack of hunger to his performances following his new deal.

"It's not the fact he hasn't scored a goal, it's the performances," Darren Bent recently said on TalkSPORT.

"Before he signed his contract he was absolutely everywhere - running back, tracking back, putting tackles in, breaking forward. There was a real hunger and intensity to his game.

"At the minute, you can see there's been a massive drop off. I don't know if it's coincided with the new contract, but you can tell that he's not playing with the same intensity that he had before.

"When you focus so much on getting a new deal like Aubameyang did, you'll run that extra yard and make that extra effort.

"When he sits down now and analyses his performances before and after the contract he'll see that there's been a massive change."
