Bournemouth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has become the second Premier League star to share his shock at testing positive for coronavirus.

The Cherries confirmed one of their players had tested positive after the Premier League said two more players or staff had done so in the second round of 996 tests.

It took the total to eight positive cases in the top flight after six players or staff out of an initial 748 returned positive tests in the first round.

Watford's Adrian Mariappa revealed he was one of those to test positive at the start of last week, and now Bournemouth shot-stopper Ramsdale has followed suit.

The England Under-21 keeper is asymptomatic and believes he may have caught the virus in the supermarket after initially testing negative.

He is now undergoing a seven-day period of self-isolation in line with official guidelines.

“It’s definitely a shock — I’ve not been in contact with anybody and I’ve now got it," he told The Sun.

“I’m showing no symptoms so the fact that a healthy young person could potentially have it is definitely scary and worrying.

“When you know you haven’t had it, and you’ve just been following the rules and only gone to the shop, that was obviously scary at first. Now I’m in the realisation that I’ve got it.

"There are other people who have had it and other people will get it so there’s obviously nothing to be ashamed of.”
