The Man Utd player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 'doesn't trust' to face Liverpool

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has lost faith in Alexis Sanchez's ability to turn his Old Trafford nightmare around - and will rush Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial back from injury to face Liverpool instead of turning to the Chilean.

The former Arsenal striker, who earns £505,000 a week at United, hasn't started for Solskjaer's team since being hauled off during January's 1-0 win against Leicester and will sit out again against the Reds despite the club's recent injury troubles up front.

Instead, the manager will bring back striking pair Lingard and Martial, providing the two come through training unscathed ahead of Sunday's meeting at Old Trafford, according to the Sun.

Neither player has featured since being injured playing against Paris St Germain in the Champions League as United lost 2-0 to the French champions.

The club are reportedly willing to listen to offers for Sanchez, who joined from Arsenal only 13 months ago, with the manager now having conceded that there is no hope of the player recovering his Gunners form and coming good on the massive outlay the Old Trafford board have made.

“Jesse is looking OK and I hope with Anthony," said Solskjaer. "They have to get through these two sessions.

“Every single player has the attributes to give us something and the way we played against Chelsea shows we can cope without them.

“We have got options, it’s a big squad, everyone is eager. They want to play in this game.

“Some haven’t played so much, so it’s a chance to step forward. If they don’t make it, it might be the same team as against Chelsea. Who knows.”

Meanwhile, Gary Neville believes that the United board will find it "impossible" not to appoint Solskjaer as manager for next season if the Norwegian leads his team to victory against Liverpool.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: "Two or three months ago he would have been hopeful of getting the job, but if he beats Liverpool on Sunday then I can't see any way he wouldn't get it.

"It shouldn't be defined by one game but to beat Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and then Liverpool it would almost make it impossible for him not to get the job."
