Ruto to critics: Show us what you have done for Kenyans

 President William Ruto has hit out at his critics, challenging them to show what they have done for the people.

Speaking on Sunday, August 23, during a church service at AIC Makutano, Taita Taveta, on Sunday, the Head of State told his opponents to focus on their agenda and vision instead of engaging in political rhetoric.

“And those saying a lot of things, I want to ask them mine I have done what is yours? Show us your plans and projects; leave the one for William Ruto,” he said.

Ruto accused the opposition of riding on the one-term (wantam), Kasongo and must-go narrative instead of focusing on their development plans.

He further accused a section of the opposition leaders of being used to fight the government.

“These people are arranged, rented, paid and hired to oppose anything that William Ruto does,” he said.

Ruto accused opposition leaders of fighting the government’s development projects like the Social Health Authority (SHA) and housing programme, without offering an alternative solution.

The President’s sentiments come just days after he accused former President Uhuru Kenyatta of being the chief financier of the opposition.

Addressing residents in Eldoret and Uasin Gishu County, Ruto alleged that his predecessor, Uhuru, finances the opposition to undermine his administration.

He claimed that the former president is actively mobilising and funding opposition leaders to sabotage his government’s development agenda and his re-election bid, sentiments that have been strongly opposed by the former president.

Speaking in Kitale on Sunday during the memorial service of former Vice President Michael Kijana Wamalwa, Uhuru said Kenyans will choose their leader in 2027 and declared that he has no interest in politics after serving for 10 years.

“Kenyans have the right to elect any leader they want. If they say Kalonzo the Kalonzo; if they say Ruto, then it's Ruto; if they say they want Matiang’I, it’s Matiang’I and if they also say Sifuna, it's Sifuna,” he said.
