NASA leader Raila Odinga and co-principal Musalia Mudavadi.
The National Super Alliance (NASA) has postponed the highly anticipated announcement on its next move after disputing presidential election results. The alliance said it would issue a comprehensive statement on Wednesday.

In a statement to the press, Musalia Mudavadi, the NASA National Campaign Committee leader, said they had to shelve the announcement owing to the urgency, complexity and delicate nature of issues the committee is handling.

“We regret that the consultations are taking longer than anticipated and NASA will therefore not address Kenyans as projected today (Tuesday)," Mudavadi said.

Mass protests and the push for an independent audit of the presidential election results are among options Opposition leader Raila Odinga was reportedly weighing ahead of his announcement.

Although NASA leaders have ruled out filing a petition at the Supreme Court, there were reports it could be lodged through proxy, possibly a civil society group critical of the outcome of the presidential vote.

There was also speculation that NASA could declare results showing Raila won and push for mass action.

Sources also suggested Raila could open channels for private talks with the Government following reports that President Uhuru Kenyatta's emissaries were sent to him on Friday night.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared Jubilee Party's Uhuru Kenyatta the winner with over 8.2 million votes or 54.2 per cent of the vote, against Raila's 6.8 million or 44.7 per cent.
