Former cabinet minister’s numbers in poll surprise many

Former Cabinet Minister Joseph Nyagah

Independent candidate Joseph Nyagah leads the six fringe candidates in the presidential election. By 8pm, Mr Nyagah had garnered 3249 votes.

Mohamed Abduba Dida had 2232 votes from 5455 polling stations out of 40883. In total, the fringe candidates have raised 11,170 votes, which is about 1 per cent of the total votes counted by 8pm.

The fringe candidates could deny the two main candidates the 50 per cent+1 vote if they garner a significant amount of votes.  

Uhuru Kenyatta is leading with 904,477 votes against Raila Odinga’s 656,293.

Here is the breakdown as at 8.10pm.

Uhuru Kenyatta - 904477 votes (57.54%)

Raila Odinga - 656293 votes (41.75%)

Joseph Nyagah - 3249 votes (0.21%)

Mohamed Abduba Dida - 2232 votes (0.14%)

Japheth Kaluyu - 1342 votes (0.09%)

Shakhalaga Jirongo - 1026 votes (0.07%)

Ekuru Aukot - 2569 votes (0.16%)

Michael Wainaina - 752 votes (0.05%)
