Meru Governor Munya trashes Senator Kiraitu's record

Meru Governor Peter Munya yesterday dismissed his arch-rival Senator Kiraitu Murungi saying he is not an effective leader.

Speaking at a political rally in Tigania East, Munya questioned Kiraitu's suitability for the governor's position saying his track record is wanting. "Meru needs a leader to chart the way forward, and residents should decide whether he will be able to serve all Merus. The best way to judge that is by looking at his track record," Munya said.

He even went ahead to suggest that Tharaka Nithi County Senator Kithure Kindiki was more effective as a leader compared to Murungi. He said Kindiki had done more for Tharaka Nithi County on legislation and the same cannot be said of Murungi.

Munya  pointed out that Murungi, failed to push forward Meru's case at the Senate, during debate on the formula to be used to determine the amount of funds to be allocated for per county. "The formula failed because the old man was sleeping during the motion for increasing funds for Meru," said Munya.
