The National Alliance (TNA) officials have challenged the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leaders to criticise corruption among the Opposition leaders and counties with the same vigour they have done when it comes to government.

TNA chairman Johnson Sakaja and party Secretary General Onyango Oloo accused the Opposition of not being sincere in the war against graft.

Mr Sakaja said all elected leaders should come out and condemn corruption and not shield their counterparts who have been implicated in one corruption case or the other. "Do not point fingers to others who are involved in corruption because of your own selfish interests; do it with an aim of fighting graft and bringing change," he said.

He said former premier Raila Odinga should have honoured the invitation by Cabinet Secretary for Treasury Henry Rotich to get access to all the documents he needed about the Eurobond.

Sakaja said the CORD leader would have honoured the invite even if all members of the public are entitled to information.

"We should explore a bi-partisan approach in the war on graft," he said. The TNA chairman said it was disappointing that the Pope, and US President Barack Obama have to remind Kenyans of the effects of corruption and how to tackle it. "We have seen Obama, coming, then the Pope giving us tips on how to fight corruption, yet these are things we know but we do not want to implement them," he added.

Mr Oloo said there is graft cases in many of the 24 controlled CORD counties too, yet the opposition was only concentrating on the national government. The leaders were speaking yesterday in Tom Mboya Labour College Kisumu at a fundraiser for Maendeleo ya wanawake. Kisumu East TNA Chairman Ben Adega said there was need for the Opposition to be honest in the fight against graft and not target individuals.
