Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Siaya branch has granted a blanket amnesty to members who left the party in previous elections.

The party's county executive committee on Monday said it had reached the decision to strengthen the party.

Speaking at a hotel in Siaya town, Mr William Ohonde, the party’s chairman, said this is aimed at bringing all leaders and voters together.

The county’s party grassroots elections were concluded on October 6 but the chairman said protests in the county were as a result of poorly conducted primaries.

“The new office is going to ensure hatred is removed by cultivating love for the party candidates,” he said.

However, the committee resolved that leaders who shall be found culpable of breaching peace and unity of the party will face disciplinary action.

“We have embarked on peace building through civic education in readiness for the 2017 elections,” said the treasurer, Siaya Women Representative, Dr Christine Ombaka.
