Develop plots without title deeds, says Governor Kabogo

Kiambu County government has said it will issue approvals to investors, who have share certificates, to go ahead and develop their plots as they await issuance of title deeds.

Governor William Kabogo told investors at the weekend to stop hiding, but instead approach officers in the town planning department and present their proposals for clearance.

"A lot of women have presented memorandums to my office informing me that they built their houses using share certificate, and it is not possible for them to pay rates as they do not have  title deeds. I have decided those with share certificates can go ahead to develop their plots,"he said.

Mr Kabogo, however, said it is up to residents to seek title deeds of their respective plots from those who sold them land in order to be the bona fide owners.

He said where there are challenges, such as instances where the land buying company has wrangles, they will be required to resolve their issues with the society or the individual who sold them the land since the county government cannot intervene is such cases.

The governor was addressing women groups at the county headquarters in Kiambu town on Saturday.

REMAIN VIGILANT

He also asked residents to be vigilant as illicit brewers have now resorted to hawking the killer brew using polythene bags.

"A number of people have been arrested in Ruaka while hawking the banned alcohol and we are counting on you to give us intelligence report on those who are still selling the brew so that we can confiscate it," he said.

Kabogo asked the President to crack the whip on methanol importers who bring it into the country under the guise of industrial use only for it to end up with illicit brew makers, who then dump it in Central Kenya.
