Siaya County: Candidates in the Siaya gubernatorial race made last minute efforts to woo voters as the campaign period came to an end ahead of tomorrow’s by-election.

The candidates who had spread all over the county organised rallies in Siaya and Bondo at different times. ODM’s Cornel Rasanga said he is ready to fulfill his promises should he be re-elected.

Rasanga said he is fully prepared for the by-elections because his campaign team had covered almost the entire county.

“We are in touch with agents in the whole county and we have mobilised and trained our agents and stakeholders in readiness for the exercise,” he said.

The aspirant, campaigning in Alego said nobody among his opponents had the experience he has to take Siaya County forward.

“Ours is to fulfill the Orange Democratic Movement manifesto where food security is number one. Creation of employment for the youth and women empowerment is at the core,” he added.

But in a rejoinder William Oduol, the National Agenda Party of Kenya (NAPK) candidate challenged the ODM party leadership to allow Siaya voters to choose a leader of their choice without coercion.

“I wish to ask leaders from Siaya to desist from forcing the people of Siaya on who to choose,” he said.

He urged the people to vote wisely as their vote will determine their future, saying a vote for him is a vote for prosperity of the county.

Oduol further asked the voters to come out in large numbers as their votes will ensure he wins the election.

“This election will not be won by the fame of a person but it will be won by the voter turnout. I am urging every registered voter within the county to come out and vote,” he said.

The NAPK candidate challenged the electorate saying Siaya as a county has lagged behind in development issues as a result of poor leadership.

He promised the people that if elected, he will ensure equal distribution of the resources and infrastructure within the county.

The Independent candidate Dr Noah Migudo Winja said he was the best candidate since he has been vetted nationally when he attended the National Police Service where he emerged the best.
