Count us out of alliances, says Kiyiapi party

Restore and Build Kenya (RBK) will go it alone in the next polls.

RBK Secretary General Charles Jakait said the party remained committed to its goal of transforming the country’s leadership.

“We have a clear vision for a new Kenya; we want to restore the dreams of the founders of the nation,” he said.

He said the pacts, whether pre- or post-election, should be based on clear principles and a shared agenda for the nation.

Jakait reiterated that RBK would go directly to Kenyans to seek the mandate to govern the country.

He said the party wants Kenyans to be allowed to elect leaders of their choice through a free and fair election. In the resolutions arrived at after the National Executive Council meeting, the party urged Kenyans to back its presidential candidate in the coming polls.

The party’s chairman, Samson Chemai, said their position as far as mergers are concerned is that that they will not enter into a pact.

“Kenya is a great country. We need to give it fresh leadership to restore its glory,” he said.

He noted that the country’s development had stagnated due to bad leadership, graft and poor management of resources.

The two spoke at RBK offices after the meeting, which was also attended by the party’s presidential aspirant James ole Kiyiapi. He charged the electorate to rise beyond electing parties and support issues.

Meanwhile, Grand National Union (GNU) has declared support for the TNA-UDF-URP coalition pact.

However, GNU has resolved to field independent candidates countrywide to vie at the county and parliamentary levels except for Meru County.

Alliance Party of Kenya will field candidates for senator and governor seats in Meru, whereas both parties will contest the other county positions.
