Sevens team face tough task in Scotland

The Kenya National Sevens rugby team faces a tough task in the final leg of the International Rugby Board Sevens Circuit in Scotland between May 28 and 29.

Head coach Benjamin Ayimba will be leading his troops to Edinburgh to face a potentially stern test against neighbours South Africa, in-form Australia and an unpredictable Canada side.

Even though Canada look to be the easier opponent on paper, Ayimba will still have to be wary of threat posed by the Canadians who have been consistently contending in the Bowl title in every leg of the series, while Kenya has enjoyed a see-saw ride between the shield and the Bowl competitions.

The hugely popular Kenyan side will, however, be trying to concentrate more eagerly on the top two sides of the pool, with South Africa being the top seeds.

Trying season

Having endured one of their most trying seasons lately, the South Africans are still fourth in the table standings with 92 points, 80 more than what Kenya currently hold with 12 at ninth place.

Kenya will have to rely on the faith that they have beaten the side before and are holding the same players who achieved this, hoping to do it again.

Australia lie sixth in the overall standings with 52 points and will be very hungry to finish their season on a high, after what has been an under performance for them in comparison to last season.

Ayimba has no option but to rally his troops to go against all odds and come out with points in the season ender.

It will not easy for him, because they would also be fresh from a bruising battle in England a weekend earlier in the penultimate leg of the series where they have been drawn in a similarly tasking pool against New Zealand, Wales and Spain.
