Sh81b needed to implement Force reforms

The Government requires Sh81 billion to implement the anticipated reforms in the Police Force. Assistant Internal Security Minister Orwa Ojodeh told Parliament that the amount would be key in the process that would include putting up decent houses for the officers.

The issue came up after Subukia MP, Nelson Gaichuhie, Erastus Mureithi (Ol Kalou), Pollyins Ochieng’ (Nyakach) and Shakeel Shabir (Kisumu Town East) complained about squalid living conditions of the police, saying it was a matter of concern as it affects the officers’ morale. Mr Ojodeh admitted police were living in deplorable conditions and that his ministry had requested for the money to remedy the same. "It is true the officers have been living in squalid conditions. If we get the Sh81 billion, we will ensure they live in comfortable houses," he said.
