Police in Bondo, Siaya County, are investigating an arson attack on the home of a local chief.

A rowdy mob stormed the home of Walter Omollo and set his three houses on fire. They accused him of collaborating with police officers to attack peaceful anti-government protesters on Thursday.

Witnesses said the youths also looted property during the raid. Omollo, who did not give many details, said nothing was salvaged during the incident that happened at around 6 pm.

He said all three houses in his homestead were reduced to ashes, with chicken, livestock, grains and his shop completely looted.

He accused police of failing to help him in good time even though he informed them before the rowdy youths began to set his home on fire.

"The group also threatened to loot and burn my shop in Bondo town," Omollo said.

Meanwhile, the battle between Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leaders and the Kenya Kwanza administration is now in court.

In what seems to be the Kenya Kwanza government’s strategy to quell protests, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations on Friday, July 21, 2023, dragged Embakasi East MP Babu Owino from Wang’uru Police Station to the Milimani Law Courts.
