A family in South Mugirango Kisii has retrieved a body of Robinson Kenyanya who had allegedly been killed by his relatives and buried in a pit latrine.

The deceased went missing more than a month ago from his rural home in Iringi Village Gucha South.

Wednesday morning, villagers got wind of what had transpired and located the site where the deceased had been buried.

They immediately began digging to retrieve the body and succeeded to have it out late in the evening.

The pit latrine had been dug but had not been constructed.

Some sources told The Standard that the deceased had a long-standing land conflict with his stepbrother and sons.

On the day of his killing, neighbours said they had the deceased cry from his house late in the night.

"We had him cry from his house and on responding one of the family members dared us not to approach their compound," said one of the neighbours.

Three people have since been arrested including close relatives.

The 10 feet pit latrine dug a few metres from the deceased house was filled with heavy stones, fresh branches and soil with a banana stem having been planted on the top.

By Wednesday 6 pm police officers were yet to arrive to investigate the murder.
