A Migori woman has stabbed and killed her sister-in-law for allegedly badmouthing her.

The assailant identified as Quinter is also nursing injuries at Migori County Referral Hospital after angry villagers beat her up after the incident.

Witnesses said Quinter accosted Caroline Ochieng, accusing her of speaking ill about her before stabbing her on the chest and stomach.

Peter Opiyo, Ms Ochienng’s brother-in-law, said the two lived together but differed after Quinter complained that the deceased was spreading lies about her past marriage.

“They stayed together in Migori Town, but differed after Quinter complained to me that Ms Ochieng had been gossiping about her with other women,” said Opiyo.

“I had engaged both of them on the same issue and thought the matter had been settled.”

A neighbour reportedly informed Quinter that Ms Ochieng and other women spoke about her in church the previous day.

Angered by this, Quinter approached Caroline and stabbed her several times with a kitchen knife.

Migori County police boss Joseph Nthenge said police rushed to the scene and rescued the attacker from the mob after getting reports of the incident.
