Three people were killed when two motorcycles collided along the Kenyanya-Eberego Road.
Three others are nursing injuries at the Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital (KTRH).
The accident happened a few minutes after 7pm on Tuesday as Kenyans continued to celebrate the new year.
KTRH Nursing Services Officer Samuel Okemwa said: “We are examining their condition but they are all out of danger. One has multiple fractures.”

According to a relative, one of the people injured complained of chest pains.
Kisii County Police Coordinator Benard Nguli termed the accident unfortunate, saying the two boda boda riders were speeding.
“From the injuries and the fatalities one can conclude that the accident occurred as a result of carelessness on the part of the two boda boda riders. We cannot afford to lose lives because of mistakes that can be avoided,” he said.
