Magistrate charged with robbery to know fate on July 13

KISUMU, KENYA: A High Court in Kisumu is set to make a landmark ruling on July 13 in a case where a Senior Resident Magistrate and an Administration Police officer are facing charges of robbery with violence.

Jared Sani, a Senior Resident Magistrate at Siaya Law Courts, and Mohamed Shukri, a police officer at Akala police station in Gem, Siaya County, are alleged to have robbed Samson Owino Ogedo of Sh10,000, one Nokia mobile phone costing Sh5000 on 21 December 2014 in Siaya Township, within Siaya County.

Presiding Judge Harrison Adika will on July 13 make a ruling on whether the two co-accused have a case to answer or not.

Seven witnesses have testified since the mentions began.

The two accused are currently out on bond, and will only be appearing in Court on the said date to hear the much-anticipated ruling.

The Magistrate who was serving in Siaya at the time of his arrest,  has since been interdicted by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) as he could not continue serving in the courts of law with a criminal case pending in court.
