Ranguma forms team to probe cause of Kisumu-Nandi border clashes

Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma

Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma has formed a five-member team to investigate claims that the clashes witnesssed along the Kisumu-Nandi county border were politically motivated.

The governor said the committee consisting of church leaders, teachers and members of the community peace committee will analyse the situation on the ground and report back to him within two weeks.

Mr Ranguma has also called on the relevant State agencies to restore order along the border to prevent the chaos from spreading. The county chief said the findings of the committee will inform his engagement with his Nandi counterpart Cleophas Lagat on how to bring the political leadership between the two sides together to find a lasting solution to the problem.

"The Government must also do its part. It is unfortunate to see innocent people lose their lives while others are injured and property destroyed," he said.
