Life in Alliance is too competitive, says Kisumu's best candidate

Castro Omondi scored 431 marks out of the possible 500 to emerge second best candidate in Kisumu County in the 2014 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations.

The former Golden Elite Academy pupil fortunately joined his dream school, Alliance High School, where he has admitted that life has never been the same.

The 14-year-old says life at the school is so competitive and that he has had to fight so hard with his classmates to shine in examinations. He says he is even worried about his performance.

In the first term, Omondi scored 963 marks out of the possible 1,100. However, he says the marks reduced to 931 and 891 in term two and three respectively.

Omondi’s ranking in class dropped from position seven to 12 and finally to 18 in terms one, two and three respectively.

“The competition is high as everyone wants to be the best, but I believe there is room for improvement,” said Omondi.

“We have to be at par if we have to achieve our missions. I want to come out of the school strong in body, mind and character and the school has put at our disposal all we need,” said Omondi Wednesday.

He advised this year’s candidates to take the results positively.
