Man killed over kin's borrowed phone in Homa Bay

A man was killed on Boxing Day after he allegedly failed to return a mobile phone he had borrowed.

Dickson Odhiambo was allegedly beaten to death by his three relatives at Korian village in Homa Bay Town Constituency.

An eyewitness said the 41-year-old borrowed the phone from his cousin so he could communicate with his relatives and return the gadget that very evening.

He said the deceased failed to return the phone at the agreed time.

"They both quarreled before the man called two of his colleagues and tied the deceased on a tree where they stoned and hit him with clubs until he died," said the witness.

Speaking on Monday, Homa Bay Police Commander John Omusanga said they had arrested one suspect and were looking for the other two.

"The body was found in his house on Sunday morning after it was allegedly dragged there," he said.
