Suspected al Shabaab militants kill two police officers in Mandera County

Two police officers have been killed and another 2 injured in an ambush by suspected Al Shabaab terrorists along Lafey -El Wak road, Mandera County.

The incident comes barely two days after a similar attack in which two Kenyan police convoys were attacked in Nothern Kenya killing at least one police officer

The al Shabaab group, which seeks to overthrow Somalia's Western-backed government and impose a strict version of Sharia law, has carried out regular assaults in neighbouring Kenya in retaliation for Kenya's contributing troops to an African Union peacekeeping force in Somalia.
