Kakamega agricultural show converted into sex party

There was more that was offered to people by the Western Agricultural Show of Kenya (ASK) in Kakamega County than what was advertised to many. The agricultural show has not been held for the last three years due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic but on Wednesday the show made a comeback this year to offer what the members of the public and region have been missing for the three years. Despite key exhibitors like Equity Bank, Mumias Sugar Company, and Mudete Tea Factory pulling out of the show due to harsh economic times, the show was able to bring on board 83 exhibitors who came to showcase their products and give people thrilling services The show took place for four days from Wednesday to Saturday at Kakamega Showground in Lurambi Constituency, the ground is sandwiched between the Central Business District (CBD) and the Kakamega forest offering a quiet environment full of natural trees, tall green grass, and scattered bushy areas that welcomes one to the showground. However, sex, and fornication by students, parties, and abuse dominated the show more than what the show was expected to offer in showcasing various products and services by different exhibitors to farmers, students, and members of the public. The showground was full to the brim with beehive activities with people thronging into the show. Besides the main activities, business people secured convenient places and locations to set up their makeshift businesses like hotels, discos, and even shops. Makeshift disco tent However what attracted many people was the makeshift disco tent that was constructed and fully enclosed some 100 metres from the main function with students and locals streaming to the showground specifically for entertainment. One was required to pay Sh50 to enter the disco to have fun, enjoy music by a DJ, and take various drinks like alcohol, cigarettes, and smoke bhang while the owners of the disco were only keen on the payment and not the age of the revelers. Through investigations, the Nairobian Reporter was able to gain access to the makeshift disco tent that was strictly manned and one could only gain access for entertainment after paying Sh50 and having a rubber stamp on their arm. Inside the makeshift disco, male adults and women, youths, and teenagers made their way inside the place for thrilling entertainment that involved dancing with their partners, probably whom they found inside the compound or in the disco, smoking, and drinking alcohol substances that were being sold inside the compound. Those who did not have money to pay were forced to stand outside the makeshift disco tent in the cold to listen to the music salivating to make their way into the disco tent. One of the Stewards contracted by the ASK management to oversee various activities told the Nairobian under a condition of anonymity that the revelers inside the disco tent would engage in sex at around 12 am midnight. "Besides smoking and drinking adults, youths, and even teenagers engaged in sex at around midnight and the act could happen under strict supervision with secrecy where those who did not pay the entrance fee could not witness or watch what was going inside and this happened while police officers were patrolling the whole compound," said the Steward. Almost 20 metres away from the disco tent was a makeshift eatery joint where nyama choma was offered with ugali, animal soup, cooked chicken, and other foodstuffs that revelers could buy and proceed to the disco. Besides eatery joints, shops, and disco tents, the place turned into Gomorrah and Sodoma grounds. The show provided ground for sex, students thronged in large numbers while in their school buses at least to learn one or two things about the agricultural show. However, for some students, the trip that offered an opportunity to acquire knowledge became a freedom day and a space for the students to experiment with their biology lessons on sex reproduction where some were caught red-handed having sex probably fornication, on the tall green grass and in bushy places. According to one of the Steward contracted by the ASK management, the two students were caught at around 5 pm on Thursday having sex on one of the tall grass lying on their school sweaters probably a bed and mattress for them and nothing could stop them from enjoying the forbidden fruit based on their age and the attire they were having. "We were patrolling to see how various exhibitors were doing and we bumped into two students, a boy and a girl having sex while lying on the sweater, we told them to stand up and put on their uniforms and gave them a warning," the Steward. "We reprimanded them and they begged us not to report to their teachers, after consultation, we decided not to take their photos but warned them not to repeat the act again, "she added. She added that despite the heavy presence of uniformed police officers and civilians who were contracted to provide security some indecent act happened and nothing was done. "We even ambushed two adults preparing to have sex, having already undressed but after they realized we were watching them they decided to remain in shock, dressed up, and left the scene, "said the Steward. "However what was worrying was the minors and teenagers who were at liberty to do unexpected things like dancing in pairs of two a boy and girl," she added The Western ASK Chairman Purity Anyanje said he was not aware of the students engaging in sex or adults inside the school compound. However, Anyanje said the only incident that was reported to the management by the security personnel was that of an adult male who was caught in one of the school buses belonging to a girl's school attempting to force himself on the students outside the showground compound. "I am not aware of the student's incident inside the compound and the two adults but what I am aware of is the incident where a male adult was caught in one of the school buses at the gate trying to force himself on the school girls but he was arrested before he could do anything, "said Anynaje. "He was taken out of the bus and received a thorough beating by the security people and later released, however we were unhappy with the management because we felt it would be better if the suspect was arrested and put under police custody," she added. However, Anyanje said the show has taught them a lesson, and moving forward they will ensure they put in place proper measures to avoid unwanted incidents. Kakamega ASK Manager Esaw Bulu told Nairobian he was not aware of the incident but promised to follow up with security personnel. He added that despite having 60 uniformed police, contracting 30 civilian security people, and a number of Maasai guards, in the future they will have to carry out sensitization and have a talk to the students and members of the public before the show kicks off. "I am not aware of such an incident and if it happened then there was a laxity, you know this compound is too big and police cannot man in each and every corner of this place. In the future we will ensure we hold a stakeholders meeting that will culminate into the creation of awareness so that we do not lose the main meaning and goal of this show," said Bulu. "We do not want such behaviors and incidents to tarnish the name of our show that we have organized to benefit members of the public in terms of acquiring knowledge, skills, and information for our farmers and students," he added. However, Kakamega County Police Commander Joseph Kigen said they had beefed up enough security but they did not receive any form of indiscipline case but acknowledged the danger of the disco to the minors. "So far we have not received any bad information but I have instructed for the closure of the disco. I received information that there was a plan to extend the disco for one more night even after the show had come to an end because its presence poses danger to teenagers, especially school-going children and it also offers a room for petty crime," said Kigen newsdesk@standardmedia.co.ke
