A Kayole man who admitted calling police 'illiterate people' has been slapped with a fine of Sh 10,000 or in default to serve six months in prison. Peter Mwangi Njuguna pleaded guilty to the charge of creating a disturbance when he appeared before Makadara Chief Magistrate Francis Kyambia.
According to court papers, Njuguna is said to have committed the offence on March 3 at Kayole police station by calling police officers at the report office illiterate.
"He checked into the police station on the stated day at about 3pm and found the officer on duty. He was drunk and he without any provocation insulted the police present.
"Attempts by officers to escort him outside proved futile as he continued hurling insults at the law enforcers. He was then arrested and placed in cells waiting for further interrogation," read the particulars in part.
