Bahati to vie for Mathare MP seat on Jubilee Party ticket

News
 Bahati

Musician Kevin Kioko aka Bahati has officially joined Jubilee party in a quest to clinch the Mathare parliamentary seat.

Early today while addressing the media outside Jubilee Headquarters Bahati said that for the longest time he has been receiving unending calls and requests from his constituents to represent them in parliament.

Mtaani wananijua kama  mtoto wa mama, wengine wananijua kama mtoto wa Diana but kutoka leo mimi naitwa mtoto wa Mathare,” he said.

Bahati also stated that Mathare has lacked a leader who identifies with the problems of the residents and claimed to be the solution.

“I was born and raised in Mathare and for the last three decades our biggest challenge is that we have never had a leader who was born and raised in Mathare. We have been electing leaders but it’s time for Mathare to get a son who was born and raised here and understands the people,” he remarked.

Bahati will be looking to unseat Anthony Oluoch who clinched the seat in 2017 on an ODM ticket.

Elsewhere, another artiste, Eko Dydda, will be running for the MCA seat in the same constituency. The gospel singer recently revealed that he will run for the MCA seat in Mathare North.

He opened up to Standard Entertainment that he believes the timing is perfect for change in Mathare and that he is the right person to lead it.

“Leadership is like a God-given talent. You can’t really hide it. I have always had this burning desire to transform my hood, having lived here for many years.

“I know what needs to be done and I have a clear plan on how to achieve my objectives,” he said.

Eko Dydda reaffirmed that music is his passion and that he utilizes his gift to teach God's word and positively influence people when asked how he will balance music and politics.

“I believe I can do both. I echo God’s word and I would not drop music for anything. I am not joining politics to enrich myself. I want to serve.
