Jubilee Insurance shines at colourful Coya fete

Jubilee Insurance emerged tops at the 16th edition of the Company of the Year Awards (Coya) fete.

The leading insurer bagged four major awards and was crowned the company of the year 2015, beating a slew of major competitors including Optiven, National Bank of Kenya, AssaAbloy and CPF Financial Services among others.

Besides walking away with the main trophy on Friday evening, Jubilee Insurance was also feted for having the best innovation, information and knowledge management system, best financial management and for best corporate citizenship and environmental focus.

Speaking at the event at a Nairobi hotel, chief guest industrialist Manu Chandaria called on corporates to forge stronger ties and work together to help fulfill the country’s development goals.

“The collective effort is missing in Kenya’s corporate system,” he stated. “We are so divided and we cannot build the country this way.”

Dr Chandaria further called for a culture of innovation and for stakeholders to create a good environment for doing business.

Manufacturing company Tropikal Brands was crowned the overall company of the year in the SME category in addition to bagging trophies for best financial management and customer orientation and marketing award in the SME category.

BlowPlast Ltd CEO Sunjay Brahmbhatt was crowned the CEO of the year while Kenya Orient’s Mariam Ahmed was crowned manager of the year.

Financial provider Taifa Sacco also won accolades in the SME category taking awards in best innovation and IT management and human resource focus.

Other winners included Optiven Ltd, which was crowned the best in customer orientation and marketing, Blowplast for best productivity and quality and financial services provider CPF Financial Services feted for leadership and management.

Kenyatta National Hospital won the judges award while Vivek Investment took the same award under the SME category.

Other trophies in the SME category went to Vivek investment (leadership and management, productivity and quality award), Creative Consolidated Systems (citizen and corporate citizenship award) and Lean Energy Solutions (leadership and management award).

The 16th edition of the awards held by the Kenya Institute of Management in partnership with the Manu Chandaria Foundation, ICDC and the Standard Media Group sought to award firms that excelled along the yardstick provided for by the Organisational Performance Index.
