Ruto's key security man takes over as Commandant of Presidential Escort

Oloonkishu Yiampoy served as the Head of William Ruto's security for ten years, between 2013 and 2022. [Kamore Maina, Standard]

Assistant Inspector-General of Police Oloonkishu Yiampoy has been appointed the Commandant of the Presidential Escort Unit.

Yiampoy replaces Josphat Kirimi, who has been moved to the National Focal Point on Small Arms and Light Weapons as director.

At the light arms unit, Kirimi replaces Charlton Murithi, who died in August 2022 after an illness.

Yiampoy previously served as the Head of Security at the Office of the Deputy President, when Ruto was the holder of the position between April 2013 and September 2022.

Yiampoy has 26 years' experience in VIP protection.
