The National Assembly has proceeded on a short recess, starting today (Friday, October 14) until Monday, October 24.

Clerk of the National Assembly Serah Kioko, in a Friday Gazette Notice, said the Members of Parliament (MPs) will take a long recess from December 2, 2022 until February 13, 2023.

While in session, the morning sittings will start at 9:30am and the afternoon sittings at 2:30pm.

"The House may resolve to hold sittings on other days and times outside the published calendar," said Kioko.

The short recess, which is underway, won't stop the vetting of the 22 Cabinet Secretary (CS) nominees.

The Committee on Appointments, which vets CS nominees, was set up on Wednesday, October 12, with the MPs unanimously approving its membership.

The committee is composed of the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula (chairperson), Nelson Koech (Belgut), Rahab Mukami (Nyeri), Dido Ali Raso (Saku), George Murugara (Tharaka), David Gikaria (Nakuru East), Ferdinand Wanyonyi (Kwanza), Mary Emaase (Teso South), Abdul Rahim Dawood (North Imenti), Junet Mohamed (Suna East), Caleb Amisi (Saboti), Stephen Mule (Matungulu), Abdi Shurie (Balambala), Naisula Lesuuda (Samburu West), David Pkosing (Pokot South) and Mishi Mboko (Likoni).

The vetting of the Cabinet Secretary nominees starts on Monday, October 17.
