Police in Nakuru are holding a man suspected of killing a woman two years ago.

The officers have since linked Samwel Kegoya to the murder of the woman whose body was found decomposing in her house on February 19, 2020, at Sunrise village in Njoro.

Ruth Waithera Kinyua is alleged to have been killed and her mobile phone stolen.

Documents filed in court indicate that Kegoya was arrested on July 30 at Keroka in Musimba Sub-county, Kisii County.

Sergeant Omolo Nyamondo, the investigating officer, on August 1 pleaded with the court to allow them detain Kegoya for 14 days to allow them time to conclude investigations.

On February 20, 2020, signals from Kegoya's phone is said to have shown he was at Nakuru bus terminus and later the location was found to be Keroka.

Police officers stormed the suspect's Keroka home, but he managed to escape with the phone.

Other suspects in the murder are still at large.
