If elections were held today, Raila Odinga will carry the day in Nairobi County, with 52 per cent of the voters choosing him in the presidential contest over William Ruto.

Nairobi County has a total of 2.41 million voters this year, IEBC data shows.

Deputy President Ruto enjoys a 34 per cent popularity rating, a recent TIFA poll shows.

The Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA) survey places Roots Party George Wajackoyah third in the city, with an approval score of 5 per cent.

Agano's David Mwaure has a popularity rating of 1 per cent.

Eight (8) per cent of Nairobians said they were undecided in the presidential race.

The above pattern is replicated in the neighbouring Kajiado County, where Raila Odinga enjoys a 47 per cent approval score in the presidential race, while Ruto has 39 per cent.

Kajiado's total vote basket is 463,000.

Wajackoyah attracts a 2 per cent popularity rating in the Rift county, with Mwaure having just under one per cent.

Twelve (12) per cent of voters in Kajiado County said they were still yet to make up their minds on who to elect as president on August 9.

Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party is the most popular sole political outfit in Nairobi County, with a following of 35 per cent against United Democratic Alliance's 30 per cent. Jubilee rounds out the Top Three, with a 5 per cent score.

UDA, however, reversed the pattern in Kajiado County, attracting a following of 31 per cent against ODM's 28 per cent.

Jubilee Party came third with a 9 per cent approval score.

In the coalition front, Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya, headed by Raila Odinga, is the most popular joint outfit, with a 50 per cent following in Nairobi and 47 per cent in Kajiado.

William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza follows with a popularity score of 28 per cent in Nairobi and 33 per cent in Kajiado.

The data was collected from 520 Nairobians and 527 voters from Kajiado County. The Nairobi respondents participated in the survey on August 1, while those from Kajiado County took part in the opinion polling between July 27 and July 28, 2022.

TIFA engaged the respondents in telephonic interviews, placing the margin of error at plus (+) or minus (-) four (4) in either county.
