Kenya is littered with a history of unresolved murders that have tainted the police image and eroded public confidence.

Some of the bizarre murders remain unravelled decades later.

Josiah Mwangi Kariuki

Popularly known as JM, the flamboyant and vocal politician was last seen alive on March 2, 1975, at Hilton hotel accompanied by President Jomo Kenyatta, before he went missing.

Days later, a Maasai herder stumbled on his badly mutilated body at Ngong Hills Forest. 

Dr. Robert Ouko

After returning from an official trip in the US, the Foreign Affairs Minister went on the night of February 12, 1990, from his Koru farm in Muhoroni.

The following day, his body was found by a local herdsboy. The charred body lay at the foot of Got Alila Hill, some three kilometres from his Koru home.

The American priest was shot dead on August 23, 2000, at Morendat along the Nakuru-Naivasha Road. 

William Munuhe Gichuki

The freelance journalist cum businessman was found dead in his house in Karen on January 14, 2003. He had a bullet wound in his head.

Aboud Rogo

The Muslim cleric was killed in a drive-by shooting on August 27, 2012, by unknown assailants in Mombasa as he drove his wife to the hospital.
