A man who turned up to represent a suspect accused of defrauding former Garsen MP Danson Mungatana was arrested at the Milimani law courts, Nairobi, yesterday.

Edwin Motari had turned up to represent Abdoulaye Tamba Kouro, a Chad national, who is charged with fraudulently obtaining Sh76 million from Mr Mungatana in the pretence that he would multiply them.

Kouro allegedly committed the offence in Hurlingham, Kilimani, together with others not before court on diverse dates between April 20, 2011, and April 29, 2013.

When Motari stood up in court, he told Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo that he was holding brief for a lawyer representing the accused.

When Ms Kagendo asked Motari if he had regularised his papers to practise as a lawyer, he said no.

The magistrate then ordered the police to arrest him.
