How IG Hilary Mutyambai will deploy senior officers

Competence and professionalism will guide the deployment of officers commanding police stations (OCSs) around the country, Inspector General Hilary Mutyambai (pictured) has said.

Mr Mutyambai said officers commanding various police stations and their deputies would be picked from across the police service based on their performances. OCSs are the main drivers of police services in the country.

The IG said any officer found indulging in corruption would be sacked.

He noted that systems of command and control had been reviewed and that the command structure had been reorganised to improve service delivery.

The police service has also harmonised the command and control structures of the various formations and specialised units. Mutyambai spoke during a meeting with regional and formation commanders at Jogoo House in Nairobi.

The IG said the next phase of police reforms would go on as planned. He asked commanders to provide full support as before.

Deputy Inspector Generals Edward Mbugua (Kenya Police), Noor Gabow (Administration Police) and Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti attended the meeting.

“We have to tell the juniors the need to embrace the changes being implemented. They are key to our future existence and relevance in the modern society,” he said. Mutyambai reminded officers that they needed to remain apolitical and serve all Kenyans without fear or favour.
