Wilson Sossion has been endorsed as the Kenya national union of teachers’ (KNUT) sixth secretary general in the ongoing annual delegates meeting in Nakuru.

Sossion has swapped positions with Mudzo Nzili, who has been acting as secretary general after the death of David Okuta, also endorsed by the delegates as National chairman.

Addressing the delegates Sossion said the union was opposed to increase in contribution to the NSSF and vowed to oppose it if the bill if signed to law.

He also said the union will hold mass industrial action next year if TSC fails to promote teachers who have qualified for promotion.

While addressing the delegates Nzili urged parliament to stop greed and the move to gag the press.

He also issued a warning to some school inspectors whom he said were quacks.

2,025 delegates from all over the country are meeting at Nakuru high school for the annual conference and to elect the union’s national officials.
