Nairobi, Kenya: A flight instructor and a trainee pilot died Wednesday morning after their plane crashed in Nairobi National Park moments after leaving Wilson Airport.

Officials said the Cessna 172 plane nose-dived about three kilometers from the airport killing the two on the spot.

The instructor was reportedly taking the student for a flying session when the incident happened at about 10 am.

Airports CID boss Joseph Ngisa and his counterpart Joseph Ole Tito said experts had been called to the scene to investigate the cause of the crash.

“We have to wait for the experts to finish their probe into this crash before we know what transpired,” said Ngisa.

Ngisa added that preliminary findings showed the plane went down less than three minutes after takeoff.
