Rustler dies after hands are burnt

A suspected cattle thief was attacked at a village in Naivasha yesterday.

Residents of Moi Ndabi burnt the hands of the suspect and beat him before the police rescued him and took him to hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

This came after police moved in to investigate increasing cases of cattle rustling in the area.

An elder, James Kimaru, said most of the stolen animals are sold in the neighbouring Narok County.

The Naivasha sub-county commissioner, Isaac Masinde, said villagers have reported to him many cases of cattle theft.

Masinde said the police are investigating the matter and that those found culpable will be prosecuted.
