David Moyes could make a sensational return to Everton.

The Scot is one of the names in the frame to replace struggling Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park.

Moyes enjoyed an 11-year stint at the Toffees before leaving to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United in 2013.

Despite his unsuccessful time at United and further unproductive spells at Real Sociedad and Sunderland, the 54-year-old is still highly regarded at Everton.

He is also being targeted by the Scottish FA as a replacement for Gordon Strachan.

But Moyes still has unfinished business at club level and a return to Everton looks a good fit.

Koeman goes into today’s clash with Arsenal with just two wins in 12 games. The Dutchman is under huge pressure to revive Everton’s fortunes after having £140million to spend in the summer.

Moshiri expected Koeman to mount a challenge for the top six, plus success in Europe.

Moyes got his Everton sides punching above their weight – and qualified for the Champions League in 2005.
