John Kamau replaces Titus Yoma as new Kisumu police boss

The changes come in the wake of protests in Kisumu that left at least four people dead and more than 30 others injured by police

Five police County commanders were Thursday moved in changes that saw Kisumu’s Titus Yoma transferred.

Yoma was moved to Garissa regional police command.

He was replaced by Mr John Kamau from police headquarters.

The new Mombasa County police commander is Johnstone Ipara who replaced Patterson Maelo. Maelo has proceeded for his retirement, police headquarters said.

Also moved was Kilifi’s Wachira Mathenge. Mr Mathenge swapped positions with Marsabit’s Ben Kogo.

The changes come in the wake of protests in Kisumu that left at least four people dead and more than 30 others injured by police.

It is not clear what prompted the changes but police headquarters said they are aimed at enhancing operations in the affected places.

Some of the places have been affected by post-election violence that saw dozens of people dead and others wounded.
