Posta Rangers coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo says he is not worried about the Kenyan Premier League leaders’ unbeaten run ahead of their crunch match against AFC Leopards, at Afraha Stadium today (3pm).

The mailmen, who are currently at the top of the table with 17 points, are the only team still unbeaten in the league after seven matches.

Rangers go into the match having beaten Sony Sugar away by a solitary goal, while Leopards suffered 1-0 defeat to Sofapaka in mid-week matches in Machakos. Despite both teams coming off quite different results, the former Kenyan international has considered the fixture as ‘tricky’.

“It is going to be a very tricky but entertaining match. The fact that a number of players have moved between these two teams makes it even more interesting,” Omollo told The Standard Sports.

“We are going into this match very focused. We are just taking one match at a time and not concentrating on our unbeaten run. But it will be great if we try to keep our form.

“We played AFC Leopards in the preseason and I have also watched them in a couple of matches, this is not a team to underrate. They have a very good coach and I think a lot have also changed in their playing unit. So, it will not be an easy game for either side.”

Just like Omollo, AFC Leopards coach Stewart Hall is expecting a difficult game against the league leaders. However, injuries on his key players are the main cause of concern. Leading striker Gilbert Fiamenyo played with pain-killers in AFC’s 1-0 defeat to Sofapaka, while instrumental attacking midfielder Paul Kiongera is expected to face a late fitness test.

“Being a big game, it will be tough and the players have to motivate themselves. We want to go neck-to-neck with Rangers at the top. So, if we win will go top of the table but I don’t want to talk about that now,” said Hall.

“But with the injuries we have and the players available there is nothing we can do.

“Like the midweek week game we tried three different striking options, unless Kiongera (Paul) is fit we don’t have many options.”
