A bus was swept away at Kalimorock along Kitale-Lodwar highway following heavy rains that pounded the area on Saturday morning.
Rescue operations were led by the area County Commissioner OCS Kainuk, his officers, the Kenya Red Cross Society personnel and area residents.
“We are warning motorists and members of the public using or who may intent to use roads within that affected region to take precautions and avoid places with rivers, roads that may cause drowning. We also call upon all nearby county disaster teams to respond and assist the search and rescue operations,” said Mwachi Pius Masai, Deputy Director National Disaster Management Unit (NDMU).
The affected bus owned by the Eldoret Express Bus Service Company, was on its way to Lokichar when the driver tried to cross a flooded seasonal river (Lagga) at Kalimorok got marooned in the water.
All passengers were rescued.

The Kenya Meteorological Department had on Thursday (October 19) warned Kenyans to expect heavy rains that were expected in several parts of the country until Sunday.
Parts that were to be most affected included; Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Laikipia, Nakuru, Narok, Kajiado, Kakamega and Vihiga.
