Governor-elect Granton Samboja and 20 newly elected Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) have agreed on a raft of measures aimed at improving service delivery.

At a meeting held at a hotel in Tsavo West National Park on Tuesday, the leaders agreed to follow the due process of law to disband the County Public Service and Taita-Taveta Water and sewerage company boards and put in place new ones to enhance service delivery.

The new team also resolved to retain the Ward Equalisation Fund, put in place measures to improve revenue collection and seal corruption loopholes.

According to the leaders, the equalisation fund would ensure less developed wards are at par with the rest.

CRUCIAL MEETING

The measures taken to turn around the county were agreed upon during the meeting chaired by Mr Samboja.

Those in attendance included Deputy Governor-elect Majala Mlagui and presumed County Chief of Staff, who is also a former Permanent Secretary, Philemon Mwaisaka.

Samboja confirmed that the meeting took place but declined to comment further.

He said one of his close associates would give a detailed report of the meeting to the Press.

Another important issue discussed was the long-standing boundary dispute involving the county and its neighbouring regions, which had remained unresolved by successive governments.

"We are happy that the new administration has shown commitment to working with the county assembly and in addressing pertinent issues affecting the local community," said Marungu MCA Paul Waweru Kang'ethe who attended the meeting.
