With Emoji’s becoming a world recognized language, Twitter has capitalized on the upcoming elections in Kenya and the conversations surrounding them.
The Emoji can only be unlocked when you tweet the hashtags #electionsKE or #ElectionsKE2017.
The social media company is said to program several other collective hashtags to generate Election Day emoji’s.
In accompaniment shall be GIF’s with both the hashtags and the emoji on them.
This is not the first time this has happened. During last years United States elections, there were a number of programmed hashtags that generated Election Day emoji’s for the country to enable tracking down of the conversations and having fun with the elections conversations. There was also a special generated debate hashtag and emoji over the said period.
Other countries that have had personalized Emoji’s include Australia, when the addition of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags came in time for their 50th anniversary of a vote to include the communities in the national census.
Looks like it is a new trend for event special generated emoji’s. Last year during the Rio Olympics as well there were more than 200 emoji’s generated.
