Mind lifts beat face lifts

The familiar is always comforting. We prefer to use that same route to work because we don’t want to risk getting lost. We hesitate to move to a different town or job because we fear the discomfort of change. We fear we will miss our old habits, that any change that we might anticipate may not bring pleasant results.

And so we stick to what we know, sacrificing the novel, the different perspectives. We are afraid of letting go, because it can be daunting and even scary.
