Feedback: ODM’s fury with Kibaki

Forget about President Kibaki and let us go for a federal system of government. Leave the provinces alone to mind their own business.

Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o could you and ODM MPs stop misleading the public. Your claim to equality is misplaced, arrogant and deceitful. If truly the two principals are equal, why didn’t the PM appoint himself and ODM ministers?

Or why does the law of the land stipulate that it is only the President who can dissolve Cabinet? If you can’t fit in, you must quit.

Prof Nyong’o, the fact that ODM has to insist that the PM is equal to the President testifies to the fact that he is not equal. If ODM was duped in the 2008 National Accord, there is nothing you can do about it now. In fact, ODM and its leader have shown a historical knack for being outsmarted, and this time is no different.

Leadership, especially the presidency, is about riches. Old, Independence leaders do not have anything to offer in the 21st century. They are only intent on protecting their ‘loot’.

We have witnessed mischief that led to the deaths of more than a thousand people, yet those responsible still want to keep playing cat and mouse games.

Ours is still a coalition Government with ODM and PNU as equal partners. Attempts to sideline one partner will never go down well with the public. The National Accord must be respected.

ODM’s problems started way before the 2007 elections. It slept, and that is why it was shortchanged. In Africa, no sitting president has ever been defeated in elections. They always find a way to retain power. ODM overlooked this and it only has itself to blame.

The more ODM tries to prove that Raila is Kibaki’s equal, the more inferior it looks. Why can’t they discuss constructive issues?

We have never seen Kibaki retreat to his Othaya constituency the way the PM does in Kibera. Neither have we heard Kibaki call for international intervention to resolve a domestic crisis.
