Kisumu-based Victoria Tennis Academy last weekend got donation of tennis equipment worth Sh64,800 from Friends of Victoria Academy based in California, USA.

The donation comes at a time the academy is preparing to carry out trials on Sunday for players aged below 12 and 14 ahead of the National Tennis Federation/Confederation of African Tennis tournament in Nairobi.

The academy will send a team to the under-12 category that will be played between April 19 and 23 as well as the under-14 category of the championship set for April 24-28 in Nairobi.

Victoria Tennis Academy Director Collins Agwanda said the donation will go a long way in helping the academy equip players with modern skills in the game.

Paul Kaunda, secretary general to Amani Na Upendo Development Group who are the academy’s partners, urged companies to support initiatives meant to promote the game in the region. The academy’s under-12 captain Junior Biketi said the equipment would go a long way in helping them acquire skills.
