Governor Muthomi Njuki has expressed concerns over laxity by Mount Kenya region voters in supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta as witnessed in the August 8 elections.

Speaking during a church service at Jerusha Kanyua Presbyterian Church of East Africa in Ndagani, the governor said many people in the region assumed Mr Kenyatta would win the election and therefore did not turn up to vote.

"If Mount Kenya region votes for Mr Kenyatta as a bloc, they are assured of his victory in October 26 repeat presidential election," he said.

He, at the same time, urged women in the region to use their convincing power to mobilise locals to turn up in large numbers to re-elect Uhuru.

The President will visit Tharaka Nithi, Embu and Kirinyaga counties tomorrow to consolidate his support ahead of the October 26 repeat election.
