Orange Democratic Movement supporters in Kwale have warned against favouring former High Commissioner to Tanzania Chirau Ali Mwakwere in the party's primaries.

Mwakwere, who has expressed an interest in vying for governorship in the August elections, recently defected to ODM.

Other politicians seeking ODM's gubernatorial ticket are Issah Chipera, Kwale Speaker Sammy Ruwa, Nicholas Zani, Mohammed Mwachai, and Gereza Dena. A section of ODM leaders have asked Zani to instead vie for the senatorial seat.

Speaking during a meeting at Ukunda yesterday, ODM supporters resolved to resist attempts to impose Mwakwere on them.
